Terms of Service
By installing, accessing, or using WildPins, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use WildPins. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the app only with the permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms.
2. Accounts and Guest Access
Some features may be available through a limited guest session. You are responsible for providing accurate information when creating an account, protecting your login credentials, and promptly notifying us of suspected unauthorized access. You may not create an account using another person’s identity or use WildPins to evade a suspension or ban.
3. Your Content
You retain ownership of the photos, audio recordings, text, pins, and other content you submit. You give WildPins a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, process, reproduce, and display that content only as needed to operate the service and provide features you request.
Finds are private unless you choose to make them public or share them with a group. When you make content public, you authorize WildPins to display the related species information, profile details, and approximate observation location to other users. You may remove or unshare your content through the app, subject to limited retention described in the Privacy Policy.
Community Gallery. The website gallery is separate from map sightings. You choose whether to submit a saved photo or upload a new photo. By submitting a gallery photo, you confirm that you took the photo or otherwise have the rights needed to submit it, and you give WildPins a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, reproduce, display, and feature that photo within WildPins, including as a Community Feature Photo of the Month. You retain ownership of your photo. Gallery submissions do not publish map coordinates, and WildPins re-encodes gallery images to remove embedded EXIF/GPS metadata before gallery storage.
Gallery voting. Signed-in members may vote once per eligible photo during that photo’s contest month. Users may not vote for their own photo. WildPins may remove fraudulent, automated, duplicate, manipulated, or abusive votes and may remove or disqualify gallery content that violates these Terms or community rules.
4. Community Rules
- Do not upload illegal, sexually explicit, hateful, threatening, harassing, deceptive, or abusive content.
- Do not post false danger alerts or intentionally misleading wildlife reports.
- Do not impersonate another person, spam users, manipulate reports, or interfere with moderation tools.
- Do not submit a Community Gallery photo you do not own or have permission to use, and do not manipulate gallery voting.
- Do not attempt to disrupt the service, bypass security, scrape protected data, or misuse the API.
- Respect wildlife, private property, and local laws. Do not endanger yourself, other people, or animals while collecting content.
Users can report content or accounts and block other users. We may remove content, restrict sharing, suspend accounts, remove users from groups, or permanently terminate access when these Terms or our community standards are violated.
5. AI Identifications and Safety
WildPins uses AI-assisted image identification and supported wildlife-audio analysis tools. Results are estimates and may be incomplete or inaccurate. Do not rely on WildPins for safety-critical, medical, legal, emergency, or wildlife-handling decisions. For potentially dangerous animals, contact qualified local authorities or experts.
6. Advertising and Current Pricing
WildPins is currently free to use and supported by advertising. The current release does not offer paid subscriptions, paid trials, paid priority identification, or an ad-free Premium tier. Advertising availability and frequency may change as the service evolves, and any future paid offering would be presented with separate pricing and purchase terms before you are charged.
7. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how it is used, how public and group sharing works, and how to request account deletion. By using WildPins, you acknowledge that submitted photos, audio, location information, and related data may be processed as described in that policy.
8. Suspension, Termination, and Account Deletion
We may suspend or terminate access, remove content, or limit public and group features when reasonably necessary to protect users, comply with law, investigate abuse, or enforce these Terms. You may delete your account from Settings → Account → Delete Account or through our web deletion page. Limited records may be retained for security, abuse prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution, and service integrity as described in the Privacy Policy.
9. Availability and Changes
WildPins may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, permanent storage of content, or compatibility with every device. We may update these Terms by posting a revised version and changing the effective date above.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, WildPins is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that identifications are accurate, that alerts are complete, that content is error-free, or that the service will always be available or secure.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, WildPins and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service. Nothing in these Terms limits rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws that apply to you under mandatory local consumer-protection rules; otherwise, they are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
